Die Logistik hat sich in den letzten 40 Jahren zu einer etablierten Funktionenlehre innerhalb der Betriebswirtschaftslehre entwickelt. Der erste Band fasst praktische Erfahrungen und zentrale Ergebnisse der Forschung zu den einzelnen logistischen Teilfunktionen zusammen und stellt dieses Wissen in didaktischer Aufbereitung dar. Im Mittelpunkt stehen somit die einzelnen logistischen Teilfunktionen: der außerbetriebliche und der innerbetriebliche Transport, die physische Lagerung, die Lagerhaltung sowie die Logistikeinheitenbildung. Jede dieser fünf Teilfunktionen wird aus Sicht der Betriebswirtschaftslehre ausführlich behandelt. Long description: IT has turned out to be a key factor for the purposes of gaining maturity in Business Process Management (BPM). This book presents a worldwide investigation that was conducted among companies from the ‘Forbes Global 2000’ list to explore the current usage of software throughout the BPM life cycle and to identify the companies’ requirements concerning process modelling. The responses from 130 companies indicate that, at the present time, it is mainly software for process description and analysis that is required, while process execution is supported by general software such as databases, ERP systems and office tools. The resulting complex system landscapes give rise to distinct requirements for BPM software, while the process modelling requirements can be equally satisfied by the most common languages (BPMN, UML, EPC). Biographical note: Susanne Patig works at the Institute of Information Systems of the University of Bern, Switzerland. She holds a diploma in business administration from the University of Leipzig, Germany, a PhD in computer science and the permission for lecturing (Venia Legendi), both from the Otto-von-Guericke-University at Magdeburg, Germany.

Die Renaissance der Großluftschifffahrt einzuleiten und ein neuartiges Transportgerät anzubieten, ist das Ziel der CargoLifter AG. Nach Medienaussagen verfolgt sie damit eines der am ambitioniertesten und ehrgeizigsten Vorhaben Deutschlands. Die Voraussetzungen der Anfangsjahre scheinen vielversprechend: Erfolgreiche Aktienverkäufe an Privatinvestoren, ein vielbeachteter Börsengang und sogar die Aufnahme in den MDAX im Jahr 2000. Dennoch bleiben die erwarteten Erfolge aus. Schon im Frühjahr 2002 und damit nach nur sechs Jahren Unternehmensgeschichte kommt es zur Insolvenz. Die vorliegende Veröffentlichung arbeitet innerhalb einer qualitativen Fallstudie die Geschichte CargoLifters auf. Current LCA methodologies employed to assess the intensity of environmental impacts lack a regional view, even though the sensitivity of the receiving environment is important in determining the specific levels of risks. This book seeks to redress the balance and develop a globally applicable, affordable and feasible approach to determine differentiated sets of possible impacts with higher environmental burdens derived from food supply chain processes. To this end, the earth’s land surface is divided into so-called “ecoregions”, defined by their specific characteristics such as soil, climate, and topography/physiography, and associated with the relevant risks for each ecoregion. The use of ecoregions and respective environmental risks can help enterprises recognize the environmental effect of their products but also help improve the reliability of comparisons between LCA results in different regions.
